Andrew Keay is Professor of Corporate and Commercial Law in the School of Law’s Centre for Business Law and Practice at the University of Leeds, England specialising in corporate and insolvency law, and where his primary teaching duties are in relation to corporate governance, corporate law and insolvency law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He also supervises a large number of PhD candidates who are working on a wide range of corporate and insolvency topics.
Andrew has been Director of the Centre for Business Law and Practice on two occasions. Besides being an academic, he is also a barrister (Lincoln’s Inn) working in the corporate and insolvency law fields and practising from Kings Chambers. Prior to coming to the UK in 1997, Andrew was at various times a partner in an Australian law firm working in the commercial law field, a Deputy Registrar of the Australian Federal Court and a Deputy Registrar in Bankruptcy, and an academic teaching at several Australian universities. Andrew holds a doctorate degree from the University of Queensland and is admitted to practice in several Australian jurisdictions.
Andrew has authored many books in the corporate and insolvency law fields. In the corporate governance field, he has written:

Andrew has had numerous articles published in a range of journals in the UK, Australia, the US, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa and Canada, including the Law Quarterly Review, Modern Law Review, Cambridge Law Journal, Legal Studies, Melbourne University Law Review, the Sydney Law Review, Common Law World Review, Journal of Corporate Law Studies, European Business Organization Law Review, European Company and Financial Law Review, Company and Securities Law Journal, South African Mercantile Law Journal, Canadian Business Law Journal and the Journal of Business Law. Many of his articles and books have been cited by superior courts in England, Scotland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Africa. Andrew is the Commonwealth editor of Gore-Browne on Companies and is an international assessor for the Australian Research Council.
