Afra Afsharipour is Professor of Law and Martin Luther King, Jr. Hall Research Scholar at University of California, Davis School of Law. She teaches courses in business associations, mergers and acquisitions, startups and venture capital, and antitrust. She researches in the areas of comparative corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law. Her scholarship has appeared in several books and law reviews, including Columbia Law Review, Minnesota Law Review, Oklahoma Law Review, National Law School of India Review, Vanderbilt Law Review, and UC Davis Law Review. She is the author of the Handbook on Corporate Governance in India: Legal Standards and Board Practices (The Conference Board 2016).
Professor Afsharipour serves on the executive committee of the Business Associations section and the Law and South Asian Studies section of the Association of American Law Schools. She also serves on the executive committee of the American Society of Comparative Law. She received her Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where she was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Cornell University.
